Takes a vector x of equally spaced points, along with the corresponding vector of function values y, and returns the numerical integral via the composite Simpson's rule.
Note: designed as the last stage of a quantum scattering calculation, where the integrand is not even close to a closed function, hence the lack of a function input. Also aware of the limitation of equally spaced points. Sorry.
