Why am I unable to see dashed and dotted lines plotted in MATLAB 7.0 (R14), when I print using the "Adobe PDF" option provided by Acrobat Distiller?

I create a plot:
plot(rand(10),'--');
In the resulting figure window I click on "File -> Print..." and choose the printer "Adobe PDF". The PDF file created does not retain the dashed line, but instead displays a solid line.

This bug has been fixed in Release 14 Service Pack 2 (R14SP2). For previous releases, please read below for any possible workarounds:
This behavior has been reported on Windows 2000 and is currently under investigation. The following code provides one way to work around the problem.
plot(rand(10),'--');
print(gcf,'-dpdf','tester')
winopen('tester.pdf')
The above code creates a PDF file called tester.pdf in the current directory, which contains the desired dashed line.
Another option is to save your figure as a PDF file using the "File -> Save As" option in the MATLAB figure menu bar. The PDF file created by this method also retains dashed lines.
