Should I buy MAC book air M1?

I am thinking on buying a new laptop and was considering Macbook air M1 (8GB) for it, would the full fleged MATLAB work on it?

That depends on your definition of working. It might be enough for what you want to do, but without a more detailed description this is the only honest answer:

according to system requirements it will definetely work. However you should decide taking in account, which tasks you will perfom on it (for example you may need CUDA core for image processing or more RAM for BIG-data or more cores for parallel processing etc.)

Iirc some polyspace operations are not available yet.

GPU operations might never be available.

At the moment, a lot of people are having problem with MATLAB freezing on Big Sur, and the M1 only runs Big Sur. There is a work-around that is okay for some people, but other people cannot get it to work.
