I can't put the degrees symbol on my chart.

I use R2013b.

I would like the x-axis to be 0º, 5º, 10º, 15º, 20º.

I tried to use 'xtickformat', but an error message appears: Undefined function 'xtickformat' for input arguments of type 'char'

mesh(X,Y,TZ)

xlabel('Pass angle [°]', 'FontSize' ,19)

ylabel('Equivalent velocity [m/s]', 'FontSize' ,19)

zlabel('Thrust [N]', 'FontSize' ,19)

set(gca, 'FontSize' ,19)

I have tried TickLabel_Format in all ways to no avail. I'm not very experienced with matlab.

I've tried it like this:

MATLAB is case-sensitive, and while the case is not relevant when using the get and set functions to query and set graphics properties, when using the structure dot-notation, case is extremely relevant.

ax.xAxis.TickLabelFormat = '%g\\circ'

↑← SHOULD BE CAPITALISED

And with that change, it works!

Creating my own arrays to use the exact code you posted (and with that error corrected) —

X = 1:10;
Y = 1:10;
TZ = X(:)*Y;

figure
mesh(X,Y,TZ)
xlabel('Pass angle [°]')
ylabel('Equivalent velocity [m/s]')
zlabel('Thrust [N]')
ax = gca;
ax.LabelFontSizeMultiplier = 1.9;
ax.XAxis.TickLabelFormat = '%g\\circ';
ax.XAxis.FontSize = 12;

Also, the ‘ax.XAxis.FontSize’ was over-riding the label font size, so ‘Pass angle [°]’ was also set to 12. Adding ‘ax.LabelFontSizeMultiplier’ and putting it first fixed that problem. (See LabelFontSizeMultiplier for that discussion.) All the labels and ticks now appear to be the correct sizes. (This is more complicated than I initially realised.)
