3D Paraboloid from the 2D parabola, how to do it?

Hallo,
I need to find the mathematical expression of a paraboloid (3D) knowing the 2D parabola equation, I guess should not be difficult but i have no clue how to do it! after that, i would like to plot a 3D graph.
is it possible with Mathlab or should I use another software?
