How to install Matlab Student version on Windows 8?

11 views (last 30 days)
I would like to install the MATLAB student version on Windows 8. I have downloaded everything and when I click the installer to run, it goes to update Microsoft Visual C++2005, and then stops and nothing happens.
After reading some other forums, I have tried to uninstall Microsoft Visual C++2005, and have tried to run the installer in safe mode.
Please let me know what I can do to successfully install the program. Also note I am installing the 32 bit student version on a 64 bit computer (which math works says should be compatible).

When I tried to install them, the following message came up:
The installation package is not supported by this processor type. Contact your product vendor.
I tried running the troubleshooting application and in compatibility mode.
