Dead-band Simulation in Pipelines with thermal fluid

5 views (last 30 days)
Within a water supply system in a building there is dead band caused by transportation of water in pipeline. Simscape Thermal Fluid Library is used to simulate this phenomenon. However, the expected dead band is not recognized. The dead band can somehow be simulated with the viscouse friction model of the pipe module, but it appears that this simulated dead band is not due to transportation in pipe line and is therefore useless.
I would appreciate your help.

Hi Ramin,
I understand that you are trying to model periods in the simulation where there is no fluid in Pipe VL1 in your model. When you simulate this "dead-band" with a step block, you do not see the response in the pipe. Is that correct?
Under which conditions (pressure, time, step value) are you expecting this behavior to occur?
Generally speaking, dry sections in Simscape and Simscape Fluids models are refered to as "dry nodes", which cause problems for the numerical solver.
Best,
Sarah
