MacOS R2019a keeps asking to “accept incoming network connections"

5 views (last 30 days)
It seems that this problem occured before too: HERE. I am using the latest macOS Mojave (10.14.4) and MATLAB R2019a. I upgraded from the R2018a, but I've removed the older version. Every time when I open MATLAB it pops this annoying window despite the fact that MATLAB is listed in my Firewall spacs to "Allow incoming connections". Help? I am really a novice with MATLAB so I do apologise if the question is "naive". I am, thou, experienced in R and decent in Python (but more and more interested in using MATLAB).
Thanks!

Thanks for wanting to help.
Can you be more specific: what exacly would you need me to clone?

I would need you to clone your entire boot drive. If your MATLAB is installed on a different drive then I would need you to clone that as well. The idea would be for me to run exactly the same software (same drivers and all) to see if it is a software issue.

Actually, this problem was sorted out with an update. Also, R2019a does not show such behaviour. Thanks Mathworks!

Seconding this issue. I've added the application to the Firewall settings in System Preferences and selected "Allow incoming network connections". As an additional troubleshooting step, I also added the application to the firewall using the command-line interface, /usr/libexec/ApplicationFirewall/socketfilterfw . The same message comes up every time I start MatLab 2019a. It doesn't matter if my account has admin rights or not. It doesn't matter if I click Allow, either; nor if I restart the system after clicking Allow. All user accounts on the system are affected. The message does not appear when MatLab 2018b is launched on the same machine.
Thanks for any assistance on this!

Hi MATLAB Tech Support. I have the same problem as OP. Please provide a fix.

Mathworks tech support needs someone who is experiencing the problem to open a technical support case.
I could open a case about it for my system but since the problem does not happen to me, Mathworks cannot work with me to debug it.

I have filed a support ticket. I've been told that The Mathwoks is aware of the issue and is working on a solution.

Hi. I'm facing the exact same issue. Is there any solution to the problem yet?

As far as I can tell, no-one who encountered the problem has opened a technical support case with Mathworks to have them debug the problem. Or at least no-one has reported back what the solution is.
This is not something I can debug on my system because it does not happen to me.

I have the same problem. It works fine only is I disable the firewall...
Why it is repeated at each start "Do you want the" MATLAB_R2019a.app "application to accept incoming network connections?"
Help!!!

A temporary workaround that has resolved the issue for me is to call the shell script directly: /Applications/MATLAB.../bin/matlab
Noted in a previous discussion thread for a similar issue on R2017a:

You can find the solution here.
