I'm building a new PC for MATLAB use.
I ordered the new i9 9900k from Intel. Currently looking which RAM to get. How important is RAM speed? Is Mhz or CAS latency more important for MATLAB? Or is it the combination?
I was thinking of getting a HyperX 3600 Mhz CL 17 64GB kit (price is currently 700 euro). They have a true latency of 9.44 ns. For extra 130 euro I can get a 3200 Mhz CL 14 kit with a true latency of 8.75 ns. However, if speed really doens't matter I just get the cheapest kit and save me some 200 euro.

I know this response is probably too late for your needs, but RAM speeds are negligible in my experience. I use a i9 9900k, overclocked at 5.2GHz with 64GB of RAM. I have observed roughly a 5% performance increase for every GHz I overclock my CPU but almost no noticable improvements when I overclock my RAM. However, when it comes to RAM, prices for a 2666MHz kit and 3000MHz kit are often very similar.
