How to get Metadata of a video?

Hi, I need to read the metadata (start time and date) of a video to link them with measurement data. Has anyone an idea how to do this?

That information is not typically stored in the metadata of a video file.

There is no standard tag mechanism for video. A lot depends on the file format, and it looks like several of the formats are handled by unofficial hacks.
