I'm battling to download MATLAB trial version for my 32-bit system. The available "installers" are Windows (64-bit), Linux(64-bit) and Max OS X (intel 64-bit). What must I do?

You must upgrade your computer to a 64 bit version. Or else see if Mathworks can give you an installer for an earlier version than R2016b, which is when they quit making the 32 bit versions. Call them.

R2015b was the last 32 bit version.
I did a bunch of research on processor models and technical history. My findings suggest that if you are running a system that cannot be upgraded to Windows 64, then your system is not powerful enough to run current MATLAB unless maybe fairly slowly. The one exception was a model of HP tablet that was available for about 17 months, it would have been fast enough. Other than that one tablet for a short period, 32 bit processors stopped being sold a decade ago.
