How to plot a magnitudes of a value in a vector against latitude and longitude?

I have a list of velocities collected along a ship track. I would like to plot the magnitudes of the velocities against the latitude and longitude coordinates of the point at which the data was collected? Any ideas on how to plot this? Something like pcolor wouldn't work because the velocities data is only a vector. Thank you.

It depends on the data you have......you may interpolate your data using scatteredinterpolant or griddata into a grid and then use pcolor or surf . Read about griddata and scatteredinterpolant.

Nah man. I don't want my velocity vector to be a matrix. I want to plot the velocity along the track only not on the entire plot.
