How to generate random samples for discrete random variables X, Y using the marginal probability distribution of X,Y

Hi,
I have Gaussian type marginal probability distributions for two discrete random variables X and Y. I want to generate random samples (x,y) using the marginal probability distributions. I know the inverse transformation method for single random variable. But, I am not sure how to perform sampling with two variables.
