Webcam support package spontaneously not recognized 2016a OS X el capitan

Last week, we recorded 200 hours of video through a webcam via the snapshot function. Without exiting MATLAB, we tried to run more data collection and were informed that the support package for USB webcams has not been installed. We reinstalled this support package many times, reinstalled MATLAB, reinstalled X-Code (to have the most recent compiler), and nothing works. We cannot detect the camera, and none of the webcam functions work.**
