Borrow License on Laptop using Docking station

4 views (last 30 days)
Using a docking station to borrow a license does not work because after removing the connection to the docking station, the network card also disappears. Therefore, the license will not work when disconnected from the docking station. How can a borrowed license be used in this situation? I cannot use the wifil to borrow a license, but the wifi card can be enabled (just not connected to a network). Is there a way to force the borrow process to use a different, or all available adapters when borrowing licenses?

Could the wifi network be set to some random SSID (different than whatever is used in the environment) just to have a network connection theoretically available ?

Thanks for the response. Seems like the wifi shows up if it's enabled or not. The MAC seems to change when connected to a network. Had not noticed that previously.

I was able to solve this by using a USB ethernet adapter to connect to the network rather than the docking station network adapter (was still connected to the docking station when borrowing license). Was able to use the borrowed license disconnected from docking station even with the USB ethernet adapter removed. This also worked for a coleague experiencing the same thing. Don't know the cause, just another frustration with Flex licensing.
