Sometimes when I’m using MATLAB on my Mac and I close or resize a window, MATLAB becomes unresponsive. How do I fix this issue?

Some macOS users have encountered an issue where MATLAB becomes unresponsive when closing or docking windows created by MATLAB.
This issue can occur in any release of MATLAB and on any version of macOS.
As a potential workaround, you can use the New Desktop for MATLAB Beta. The New Desktop for MATLAB Beta is available for MATLAB R2023a and up. To get started with the New Desktop for MATLAB Beta, do the following:
  1. From MATLAB desktop, go to the Home tab, and in the Environment section, click on the Add-Ons dropdown and click on the "Get Add-Ons" button.
  2. Search the Add-On Explorer for: "New Desktop for MATLAB".
  3. Download and install the Add-On, and follow the instructions to enable the New Desktop for MATLAB Beta.
