How to calculate the fractual dimension of the following image?

Bear in mind that most of the submissions on the FEX expect their inputs to be binary images, regardless of whether they mention that or check for it. That makes sense, since we're talking about set membership.
Some will arbitrarily threshold the inputs internally. Sometimes that threshold is x~=0. Sometimes it's x>100. Sometimes it's something else. Which value is appropriate? Considering that varying the threshold value can significantly alter the calculated FD, blindly feeding grayscale/RGB images into the process seems more like an elaborate garbage number generator.
I'm not at all familiar with this topic, but beware to make sure that you know exactly what you want, and make sure that any found code actually does the thing you want.
