Binary Integer Programming with user defined objective function

It is understood that the binary integer programming toolbox can only handle linear objective functions. But does MATLAB allow user defined functions to serve as objective? As far as I know, I don't think so. It is possible to define objective functions in the more popular and also useful 'fmincon'. However, binary integers cannot be associated with it. Either way, is there a solution? I bet MathWorks would have some way out even if not prevalent. Please let me know. It would be very helpful!
