I will use wind data to calculate along shore windstress for 20 years and I need to plot that for five locations in northern Indian ocean. Along shore wind stress will be used to identify the upwelling regions and upwelling intensification. The following equation will be used for calculate alongshore windstress.
Ʈl = ρa*Cd*Vl [(Wx)2 + (Wy)2]1/2
Where,
Ʈl = alongshore wind stress
ρa= air density
Cd = drag coefficient
Wx = zonal wind component
Wy = meridional wind component
Vl = upwelling favorable wind
Vl = - [lat/abs(lat)] [WxCos (θ - π/2) + WySin(θ - π/2)]
where,
Lat = latitude
abs = absolute value
θ = angle defined by an unitary vector normal to the shoreline and pointing seaward
I am going to use for loop for above equation and the data is in 20 netcdf files. I wanted to know, how to apply monthly mean wind data in a for loop and get the plot?
