Cross section area of a mesh from plane normal to a given curve

Can someone please guide me on how can I get the cross sectional area for tecplot mesh file of an irregular duct shape? I need the area from a plane normal to a specific curve passing from inside of this duct. The meshfile is in Tecplot file format and the coordinates for the curve is in simple data format.
