Green box instead of code upon bad termination

Hi everyone,
I hope this question can be addressed quickly as my assignment is due soon. After compiling my code last night and having success, I saved my project and closed everything down for the night. This morning, I ran my code and it essentially froze my computer: I waited ~2min for a response, nothing so I tried opening task manager - nothing after several more minutes. My only option seemed like a hard reset. I load up the project and.. my code is missing. Everything. Instead, I have a single green box in the editor (see attached). What are my options here? Lastly, how do I prevent this from happening again?
Thank you

Look for the auto-save file (the .sav), which might be gone by now. (open it with notepad instead of the Matlab editor) I personally only work on cloud-synced folders for anything important, but that advice is of course too late for you now...

Your advice has worked! I realized my cloud sync has iterative saving and I was successfully able to restore it!
