Hi,
I've just downloaded Matlab and started R2021B and I've got some issues with the appdesigner and apps created with this.
The appdesigner won't start with 'appdesigner' command in the command window, neither with 'Apps' --> 'Design app' and neither by start an already existing .mlapp file. Matlab remains in 'Busy' state and no errors are shown.
Furthermore, Compiled applications do not start properly, they do not appear at all or show a white not responding screen.
For these Matlab versions everything works fine (all at the same machine):
- R2018B
- R2019A
- R2020B
For these versions I've got the these problems:
- R2021A
- R2021B
What I've already tried:
- Clear preferences (https://nl.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/99625-how-do-i-regenerate-my-matlab-preferences)
- Clean reinstall of Matlab
- Restarting computer
- Clear temp folder
- Use additional startup arguments: https://nl.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/97167-why-will-matlab-not-start-up-properly-on-my-windows-based-system With the shortcut "C:\Program Files\Matlab\R2020b\bin\matlab.exe" -desktop I was able to open the appdesigner a few times. Yet it was unstable, and not repeatable
- Check from: https://nl.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/313886-why-is-app-designer-not-opening --> Preferences.appdesigner field does not exist
Some help would be greatly appreciated

Hummm... it sounds familiar. Are you using Windows 10? If so, my guess is that you have a non-updated Windows version. Can you check it?
