PLEASE!! Need help converting MSL to AGL? Newbie

I am totally new to matlab and have no idea where to even start with this. I have a reported altitude given in MSL at a location on a map with lat/long in degrees and need to convert the altitude from MSL to AGL over a reported elevation at that same lat/long given from a terrain database. Can anyone help?
