Color Step Size in contourf

Hi guys,
I have a matrix A of 100 by 800 which has a minimum of min= 10.2 and a maximum of max=3.0987e+004.
I want to plot the contourf of this matrix but I want to control the colors to have 11 colors with the below step sizes:
max to (0.7)^1*max
1. (0.5)^1*max to (0.5)^2*max
2. (0.5)^2*max to (0.5)^3*max
.
.
.
 10. (0.5)^9*max to (0.5)^10*max
11. (0.5)^10*max to min

Could you please help me?
