Medical image registration tutorial

Hi,
I am new to this group. I would like to know if there is any tutorial
pdf/websites/books relate to 3d image registration for medical images?
Image processing is a very very new to me. I tried to read all the
literatures on image registration but i do no quite understand. I
think I better start something like coding and I am not sure whether
to use MATLAB or ITK cause my c++ is just "zero".

Is there anyone doing image registration research?

yes, matlab would be much easier to use for image processing.

I just saw the price on the book. $388 for new copy!

I guess Matlab must really be used for image processing, else
why would this book be so expensive?

Thank you for your reply. I have this book in my library. I cant afford to buy it but there is only a limited section on image registration in this book. There is one more book :2D and 3D image registration; but this mainly on feature based registration. I am looking for any tutorial that goes in depth. Anyway Thank you Mr Nasser.

Hi!

I am using SPM (Statistical Parametric Mapping) a freeware research tool which can be integrated in MATLAB.

You can use this tool for brain imaging.

SPM is available for download after you fill in a registration form http://www.fil.ion.ucl.ac.uk/spm/software/spm8/

Oh., I have this book..I tried to read it for few pages than I lose my focus cause its too mathematics. :)

Well, you said you wanted something in-depth... What kind of depth are you looking for?

i too checked it out right now, it's not working. i think the have moved the page but forgot to change the link on the webpage. try to find SPM8 from other sources. i tried it out on wiki and some other pages but they all redirect me to the official SPM website.

Sorry. My own mistake ..I am not good in Maths but I will persevere...At the moment I have read all the reviews..I guess its better for me to start experimenting so that I can look at a clear picture of what is registration is all about.
