This function computes the maximum likelihood estimator for the spin echo time decay constant, with option for either known or unknown echo waveform. Additive white Gaussian noise is assumed, but noise variance may differ across multiple echo times due to unequal pulse averaging. The MLE provides approximately a 3:1 reduction in parameter error variance versus the echo-integration approach, and over 40:1 reduction versus peak-picking; actual reduction in error variance depends on the true echo shape.

The routine ExampleSpinEchoMLE.m provides a tutorial illustration of the estimator for a simulated set of echoes.
