Why does my inline graphics object not appear correctly in my PDF-format report in MATLAB 7.8 (R2009a)?

I have created a custom component to make my figure snapshots appear inline. This works well for reports generated in HTML format. When I try to use report generator to create a PDF file using the Paginated Sections style sheet, the inline graphic command puts the figures on a diagonal (from top left to bottom right) and not in a straight (horizontal) line.

This behavior can be avoided by making sure the figure snapshots are contained within a paragraph component.
