Why do I get excllink.xla error when I try to load the MS Excel data into Spreadsheet Link EX 3.0.2 (R2008b)?

I have data in Microsoft Excel, which I need to export to MATLAB workspace using macros with functions MLPutMatrix, MLEvalString etc. I am using Microsoft Excel 2002 SP3. When I try to load the excel data into MATLAB R2008b, I am getting the error in small dialog box as follows:
missing excllink.xla error.

The missing excllink.xla error message normally occurs when the SpreadSheet Link Ex is not available in the installation directory.
To work around the issue, install Spreadsheet Link EX and then, follow the instructions in the link below to configure Spreadsheet Link EX add-in with MS Excel 2003:
