I just installed MATLAB 7.0 (R14) on my Windows machine. It starts and functions correctly, but when I exit MATLAB, Windows shows a blue screen and I have to restart my computer. The blue screen has a message about an ati2dvag.dll library. My graphics adapter information is as follows:
Mobility Radeon 9000
Mfg: ATI Technologies Inc
Driver: ati2dvag.dll
Driver Provider: ATI Technologies Inc.
Driver date: 8/14/2002
Driver version: 6.13.10.6149

This is an issue with ATI Technologies, Inc. graphics adapter cards that cause problems with graphical programs. The dll mentioned is the graphics driver for the ATI card.
To work around this issue, try reducing or turning off hardware acceleration in the Windows display properties. To do so, follow the steps below:
1. Close MATLAB.
2. Right-click on the Windows desktop, and select "Properties".
3. In the Display Properties window that opens, select the "Settings" tab, and then click on the "Advanced" button.
4. In the window which opens, select the "Troubleshoot" tab.
5. Set the "Hardware acceleration" slider all the way to the left, to "None".
6. Click OK in this window, and then click OK again in the Display Properties window.
7. Restart MATLAB.
You can also try to update the driver to see if this resolves the problem.
