Why do I receive an "out of memory" error when I try to open a large HTML file using the Help Browser in MATLAB 7.0 (R14)?

When I try to open an HTML file of about 3MB or larger, using the Help browser:
web('foo.html')
I receive the following "out of memory" error:
java.lang.OutOfMemoryError

This bug has been fixed in Release 14 Service Pack 3 (R14SP3).
There are no known workarounds for previous versions of MATLAB.
