Is the DDE Client still supported by MATLAB 7.0 (R14)?

I am still interested in using the DDE Client and am curious if MATLAB still supports its use.

As of MATLAB 5.1 (R9), all development work for the DDE Client has been stopped and no further development will be done.

MathWorks strongly recommends that customers should migrate to the MATLAB interface to COM technology as a replacement for DDE Client technology. If customers are running Excel as a DDE server, they should consider using Excel Link as an alternative.
