Why does registration of my COM object from MATLAB Builder for COM or Excel fail?

When the package I created using on the of the following toolboxes:

MATLAB Builder for COM

MATLAB Builder for Excel

MATLAB COM Builder

MATLAB Excel Builder

tries to register my COM component, it fails. Why is this?

This bug has been fixed in Release 14 Service Pack 2 (R14SP2). For previous releases, please read below for any possible workarounds:

This failure is usually due to a problem with system permissions and security settings. You can probably avoid this problem by logging in as Administrator before running the installation.
