Why is Simulink Verification and Validation 1.1.2 (R2006a) unable to synchronize my model with a DOORS module that specifies an object identifier prefix?

I am using the Requirements Management Interface for DOORS in Simulink Verification and Validation 1.1.2 (R2006a). After deleting a block from my Simulink model, I am unable to synchronize the model with a DOORS module that specifies an object identifier prefix. Note that my project requires that I specify object identifier prefixes in DOORS.

This enhancement has been incorporated in Release 2011b (R2011b). For previous product releases, read below for any possible workarounds:
The ability to synchronize a Simulink model with a DOORS module that specifies an object identifier prefix is not available using Simulink Verification and Validation.
As a workaround, temporarily disable the prefix (i.e., specify an empty string) and then re-enable it after synchronizing.
