Does my network require DNS for the Distributed Computing Toolbox 1.0 (R14SP1+)?

I would like to use the Distributed Computing Toolbox and the MATLAB Distributed Computing Engine. Is DNS a network requirement for using these products?

This change has been incorporated into the documentation in Release 14 Service Pack 3 (R14SP3). For previous releases, read below for any additional information:

We have verified that there is an omission in the documentation for Distributed Computing Toolbox 1.0 (R14SP1+). In addition to the network requirements listed for these products, you must also have DNS available on the network.
