Why do I receive an error when I try to connect to my target when running a model in external mode in SimDriveline 1.0.1 (R14Sp1)?

When I try to connect to the target in external model with any SimDriveline 1.0.1 (R14SP1) model I receive the following error:

 Checksum mismatch Target code needs to be rebuilt.

This change has been incorporated into the documentation in Release 14 Service Pack 3 (R14SP3). For previous releases, read below for any additional information:

We have verified that there is a bug in SimDriveline 1.0.1 (R14SP1) when connecting to a target PC in external mode.

There are currently no known workarounds.
