Broken File Associations - R2013a - Windows 7

Closed: MATLAB Answer Bot on 20 Aug 2021
Double clicking a file that should open within MATLAB (R2013a) only opens another instance of MATLAB. I tried changing the associations using the 'open with...' option in the right-click menu in finder, but it seems to be stuck on 'MATLAB Starter Application'.
Any suggestions?
