Choosing a web platform

Hi I’m currently working on a web service that will be showing the output of a matlab script…
I’m almost done with my proof of concept (my model work fairly well)… and it’s time to look for a platform that I could use to deploy my model…
I did work with most of the major language at some point in the past, but I didn’t do much programming of web service over the last few years… the last time I did some web service development was 10 years ago with Oracle products… and back then everything was fairly complicated (and expensive)… so I don’t really know the latest features and no real preference for one platform over another
My needs are currently fairly simple (I use matlab to update a database; the results will then be presented in furious web pages) and I’m pretty sure that I could make things happen with just about any platform… But I’m a single man show, with a full time job… so I’m looking for a platform that easy to setup a dev environment at home, easy to deploy on a third party server and scalable (I’m hoping to used more advance matlab features at some point… including some real time processing)
I look very quickly at .net (from ms website) and it seems that it’s fairly seems to be easy to find simple and affordable hosting… but I’m really not sure how well it interact with Matlab… and I will love it things could run on a mac…
You advices will be more than welcome.

I can't comment much on the server side but MATLAB is buddies with both .NET and Java.
With Builder NE you can deploy MATLAB code as .NET deployables that can be plugged into your Web applications royalty free (you just need the licenses at your end)
Likewise Builder JA does the same with Java:
If you have plans to eventually use MATLAB analytics in production environment MATLAB Production Server is a product you may be interested in:
