Activation of cores in core 2 duo processors by Parallel computing tool box in MATLAB!

Hello,

I am learning about parallel computing tool box in MATLAB. My CPU is Intel Core 2 Duo T 6400 2.00 Ghz and I have MATLAB R2009a version. I just want to know that if I am executing Matlabpool open local 4 command in MATLAB. Does it mean that we are activating 2 labs or workers in one core of core 2 duo processor and another 2 labs or workers in another core of core 2 duo processor?Please help me i am confused.
