Phased Array Toolbox - Radiator vs Collector for weighted amplitude and phase

I'm trying to model a simple linear phased array that has a weighted amplitude and phase applied to each element. It seems that the 'step' function of phased.ULA (obviously) and phased.ConformalArray can only vary the phase with phased.SteeringVector. I found the 'step' function of phased.Radiator and phased.Collector has a vector for amplitude weighting. So the questions are:
1) Is the 'step' function of Radiator and Collector objects the only way to apply a amplitude weight on the elements?
2) What is the difference between Radiator and Collector functions and how do they affect the final beam pattern?
3) Once I achieved the beam steer, say 20 degrees, how do I find what phase values each element used to achieve this beam steer angle?
4) Eventually, I want to do a conformal array with weighted amplitude and phase. Will this be possible with the phased array toolbox or do I have to do it differently?
Please let me know if I am wrong because I am completely lost. Thanks for your help.
