My operating system is 64-bit Windows 7 and my University Bookstore only has a 32-bit version for Windowes.I would appreciate if you could let me know whether is MATLAB Student Version only for a 32-bit windows and not for a 64-bit one?

Student Version is only available in 32 bit for MS Windows.
The 32 bit version of MATLAB can be used on Windows 7 64 bit.

Can you please clear up the ambiguity of software information more precisely? Are you talking about Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and MatLAB 2013a student addition? And if so, could you provide a link to any special installation steps for installing MatLAB 2013a Student Addition on a Windows 7 Professional 64-bit system?

32 bit Windows versions of MATLAB can be installed on 64 bit Windows operating systems without using any special installation methods. (Now, the 32 bit Linux installing on 64 bit Linux is a problem...)
