Is it possible to install MATLAB R12.1 in windows xp. Since i would like to upgrade my machine from Window2000 to xp for various other supports.

Yes.
Win2K is supported until Matlab 7.5 (R2007b), but upgrading to XP is a really good idea.
R12.1 is very old as Xp is also. Care for installing at least the SP3 and consider to upgrade to any newer system, if possible.
