License checkout failed: License Manage Error -39

4 views (last 30 days)
After installation of Matlab2016b I receive License Manager Error -39 "License checkout failed". The troubleshoot leads to this answer where they say, I should INCLUDE my user name in the mlm.opt
Unfortunately I do not have a mlm.opt file. There is just the mlm.exe in my "etc" folder. I try to run Matlab with an academic license. My mathworks account is associated with the license and I have specified the path to license.dat on my computer.
In the log file it says 13:53:20 (lmgrd) "XXX": Not a valid server hostname, exiting. 13:53:20 (lmgrd) Valid license server system hosts are: "XYZ"
where XXX is my local domain name (user name) and XYZ is the matlab license server of my university.
How and where do I include my user name or is there something else I'm missing?

Hello Martin Danner,
I see that you are facing license related error while using MATLAB2016b.
Please note that, license Manager Error -39 indicates that you are logged into your computer as a user who is not authorized to use the license. For Network licenses that utilize an Options File to administer the licenses, users who are not included for a licensed product are denied access.
For instructions to resolve this error, please see the link below provided by MathWorks Support Team about error -39:
Please update your license manager to the newest version. For more information, see this article:
I hope it helps!
