Example on eigenvalue problem with analytical jacobians

Is there any example I can find where they have set up an eigenvalue problem with analytical jacobians? I keep getting error "too many output arguments" when the function where I define analytical jacobians is called.
The basic problem is that I keep getting singular jacobian problem as my solution has steep gradients and I think using analytical jacobians might help. Any knowledge on this is also welcome.
I have tried using analytical jacobians for just BVPs that are not eigenvalue problems and I did not get the "too many output arguments" error.
