Can i import a shapefile in order to use it as geometry in pdetool?

i have a shape file with the map of the lagoon, and i would like to import it in matlab and use it as "g" (Geometry) in "pdetool" in order to apply to it the "initmesh" instruction and have the p,e,t parameter. Is it possible?
