It is possible to collapse "if/else" and "switch" blocks within the MATLAB R2014a Editor. However, this feature is disabled by default. You can enable this feature in the MATLAB Preferences:
1) Open the preferences using the button on the tool strip, or by executing this line of code:
>> preferences
2) Once you are in preferences, click on "MATLAB" -> "Editor/Debugger" -> "Code Folding".
3) Select the code blocks you are interested in folding, for example "If/else blocks".
4) Click "OK".
