Problem in loading optimization toolbox

Hi, I am using Matlab 2014a. When I try to use Optimization toolbox I get the following error instead of getting the Toolbox option
Undefined function 'createProblemStruct' for input arguments of type 'char'.
Error in optimtool (line 42) validValues = {fieldnames(createProblemStruct('solvers')), {} };
I basically need to use ga. But when I try to use ga always get the error
Undefined function 'ga' for input arguments of type 'function_handle'.
I am just trying to run the example given here. http://www.mathworks.com.au/help/gads/examples/coding-and-minimizing-a-fitness-function-using-the-genetic-algorithm.html
But nothing is working for me. Would you please suggest me how to fix it?

ga is a function in Global Optimization Toolbox, not Optimization Toolbox. At the MATLAB command line enter
ver
to see whether you have Global Optimization Toolbox installed. I suspect that you do not.
