Making an area/object inside axes 'clickable'

I have a GUI in wich I alter the data of a scalogram (adjusting amplitudes and such). There is also a button wich puts a box around small clusters of activity, i want to make this box inside the axes clickable, so that a new GUI pops up with more info about the cluster that was clicked. Is there a function or a way to make this possible?
