How to make MATLAB display error messages in the command line?

6 views (last 30 days)
I'm using version 8.1.0.604 (R2013a) of MATLAB via SSH and -nodisplay.
My problem is that MATLAB does not display error messages in the command line.
For example, typing "a=3+" and pressing Enter all I get is a new line and prompt.
I wish it behaved like the normal non-command line version, e.g. showed "a=3+ Error: Expression or statement is incomplete or incorrect."
MATLAB does write the above error message in the log file though (as specified by "matlab -nodisplay -logfile filename")

This issue is not reproducible in r2020b version. Please let me know if you are still seeing the issue. Thanks.
