How to get the area of a certain contour area?

Hi all,
I plot a contour figure. There are several contours with the same value in this figure. I just want get the area of a certain one. How can I select the areas?

What form is your contour in? A list of x,y coordinates? Is it completely enclosed? Or is it open (touches border)? Have you looked at poly2mask(x,y) and regionprops()?
