How to control a DLL with Matlab?

I'm trying to control a torque cell using Matlab. I understand that I need to connect with a DLL through a USB but I'm not sure beyond that. I was able to download a USB DLL file (that has a .dll extension), but again, I don't know what to do now. Would I use the loadlibrary command? Is there another set of commands to initialize the connection?
